The birth of the idea of Tamil League by Goin Ringadoo and P. Rengasamy.
1944
The Tamil League was registered with the newly created Registrar of Friendly Associations, marking a significant milestone.
1947
Leadership changed hands, leading to the reorganization of the League with the involvement of young intellectuals.
1950
The tenth anniversary of the Tamil League Scouting was celebrated with great pomp at the town hall of the Municipality of Port Louis.
1951
The Youth Drama Festival started in 1951, with the Tamil League participating and winning prestigious awards in subsequent years.
1957
The League became the proud owner of a building worth Rs 17,000 on 70 Toises of land at 17, Church St, Port Louis.
1964 and 1967
Football became an important activity, with the League playing in the third division of the Mauritius Sport Association’s League, and scouts winning prizes in competitions.
1984 and 1987
The Managing Committee decided to move outside Port Louis, selling the premises and purchasing a piece of land. In 1987, the League celebrated its 50th birthday anniversary.
1995
The Tamil League, now owner of a building at Martindale, Réduit, started diversifying its activities, introducing adult Tamil class, aerobic classes, and more.
1996
In the context of the Foster Family Cultural Programme, the Tamil League played an important role at the local level by arranging for Malaysian University students to stay with foster families.
2005
The Managing Committee negotiated a new loan to add a storey to the Club House, which was inaugurated after two years of construction.
2011
The League established a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme to help needy families with monthly food provisions.
